Linda M. Grindley

Linda M Grindley, age 77 of Jacksonville, FL , passed away on September 18, 2024. She was born on March 6, 1947 in Kankakee, IL. She was the daughter of Samuel Mann and Hazel Stevens Mann. She Married Wayne Grindley on November 28, 1965 in Kankakee, IL.

When Linda was already past 40, she decided to go back to school, intending to get a two year degree in nursing. She found she enjoyed learning and went on to earn a four year degree from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL. While there she also took some voice lessons. She loved to sing and sang in her church choir in Kankakee, and later when she joined Asbury United Methodist Church of Orange Park, FL, she sang in the choir and was a Soloist.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Grindley, her parents, and her sister, Beverly Mann.

She is survived by her sons Matthew Grindley of Jacksonville FL and Micah Grindley of Chicago, IL, one sister Dorothy Kingsnorth of Orange Park, FL, one brother Russell Mann of Ashkum, IL: many nieces and nephews, grand, and great-grand nieces and nephews, all very special to her, and friend of the family and caregiver Peter Paisley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26,2024 at 11 AM, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 16 College Drive, Orange Park FL, officiated by Rev. Jennifer Ahrens-Sims. The service will be live streamed on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/@asburyunitedmethodistchurc40 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
