Linda Kirk Turner

April 23, 1950 — September 5, 2023

Linda Lou Kirk Turner

Born April 23, 1950, in Philadelphia, Navy Hospital, was called to her new post by an Early Bell on September 5th, 2023, after a wonderful life teaching and learning from others.  She was the daughter of deceased parents Virgil Eaton and Evelyn Grace Kirk.

She leaves behind many beloved friends and family:  Jim, her husband, son Bo (Donna) - grandchildren Bailee, Blaine, Cassie; daughter Kara (Marc) - grandchildren Tristan (Lindsey), Trevor, Trace.  Two great grandchildren, Rhett and Elijah. Her brother Guy (Ginger) and niece Sarah. Her surviving Aunt Em and Uncle Ken, and cousins too numerous to name.

Linda loved to travel on a plane, on a boat, but mostly crossing the country in the RV.  She was an avid reader and probably the Middleburg library’s most frequent patron and may even have a few late fees still. She enjoyed mowing the grass, taking care of her plants, and watching the hummingbirds in her yard.  She was a graduate of the University of Florida and University of North Florida. Gran, as she was called by her grandchildren, had a great sense of humor and loved a good conversation about her grandchildren.   She supported them in everything they did, from baseball or softball games to riding dirt bikes or building their first home.

Known to her coworkers and friends as Turner, LT, Linda, or Leenda, she taught for 40 years in Clay County, and served as an administrator in many different schools, her most favorite being Bannerman Learning Center, the alternative school in Clay.  She worked with the “best teachers and some of the nicest, sweetest, smartest kids in her experience.”  Linda loved working in the school system, she cared deeply about her students and teachers and spent her life building a legacy of learning for others.

A service to celebrate her wonderful life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11am in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend Jonathan Morrell officiating. The family will receive friends at HM and Melody Hoffmann’s home following the service, 959 Lake Asbury Drive, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043.
