Lisa Ann Buchanan (DeRosia) unexpectedly passed away with her loving husband by her side on November 22, 2024, at a local hospital in Orange Park, Florida. She was born to parents Larry and Linda DeRosia (Jeffords) on June 6, 1964, in Kane, Pennsylvania.
Lisa graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor's degree in nursing and dedicated 28 years of her life to her career at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was a bedside ICU nurse, a House Supervisor, and a member of the Rapid Response Team, where her compassion and quick thinking left a lasting impact on both her colleagues and patients. Lisa’s passion for caring for others was a hallmark of her life, and she always went above and beyond to make a difference.
Lisa was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She loved her family fiercely and found immense joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. A lover of animals, children, and the outdoors, Lisa embraced life through boating on Black Creek, camping, and fishing. Over the past seven years, Lisa selflessly devoted her time to fostering 48 children, transforming their lives with her love and care. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering dedication to others, and the incredible legacy of love she leaves behind.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Larry DeRosia. Her mother, Linda Ann DeRosia, passed away just one week following Lisa’s death.
She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Rod Buchanan; her children, Katie McWhorter (Matt), Nathanial Fongeallaz (Lena), and Ace Buchanan; her brother, Larry James DeRosia; her sister, Barbara Ann Austin (Scott); her grandchildren, Temperance Fongeallaz and Gideon Fongeallaz; and her nieces and nephews, Ashleigh Baranowski (Ross), Christopher Donaldson (Allison), Makenzie Austin, Haley DeRosia, Christian Hirsch, Schylar Hirsch (Jordan), Logan Hirsch, and many more beloved nieces and nephews.
Lisa is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many more extended relatives and families whose lives she so deeply touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Lisa’s life will be held on January 18, 2025 at the Bishop John Synder High School (Cafeteria) starting at 2PM.
