Lonnie Marvin Cercy, Jr.

Lonnie Marvin “Buddy” Cercy Jr., age 95, of Doctors Inlet, FL passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023.  He was born on October 12, 1927 to parents Lonnie Marvin Cercy Sr. and Georgie Bell Jeffers with 1 sister, Mary Katherine Griffin. A lifelong resident of Clay County, Lonnie has seen incredible changes in this area he called home and was often known to say, “I remember when this place was……………”

A truck driver by trade, Lonnie married Sherry M. Rhoden in August 1948. Together they had 3 children, Ronald “Dale”, Sherry and Barbara Cercy.  They enjoyed 43 years together until Sherry was called home to be with the Lord in 1992.

He later found love and companionship with June Williamson and together they shared 23 years until she was also called home to be with the Lord.

A faithful member of the Doctors Inlet Church of God since 1970, he loved the Lord and was determined to be in attendance to worship and serve whenever possible.  He loved spending time with his family, often around a meal. Passionate about fishing, he loved to catch them and then get them to the fryer.  Sharing these times with his son and grandsons were some of his favorite memories.

He is pre-deceased by his parents Lonnie M. Sr. and Georgie Bell Cercy, his wives Sherry M. Cercy and June W. Cercy. His sister, Mary K. Griffin and 1 great-grandson Asher Lee Mohrmann.

He is survived by his son: Ronald Dale Cercy Sr. (Denise), daughters: Sherry G. Moody, Barbara J. Farris (Billy).  Grandchildren: Ronald Dale Cercy Jr. (Nikki), Lonnie Christopher Cercy (Nicole), Joseph William Cercy (Lacey), Jason Allen Moody, Allison Nicole Farris, Hannah Grace Farris, and Kristina Hope Farris. Seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held to celebrate his life at the Doctors Inlet Church of God on Saturday, January 14, 2023. The family will receive friends at 9:00am and funeral services will begin at 10:00am with Pastor Mitch Snowden officiating. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery.
