Lynda Kay (Bowers) Zabito, 70, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Lynda was born on February 22, 1947, to Violet (Black) and Charles Bowers. She grew up in the Rockville, Maryland area and moved to Florida as a teenager where she resided for most of her life. Lynda loved people and enjoyed a long career in the restaurant and hospitality industry, retiring in 2009. Lynda is survived by her daughter Lori and son Dean; also by her brothers Denny and David, and sister Sandy. Lynda is preceded in death by former husband Frank McGill, husband Vincent “Bubba” Zabito, her parents, and sister Bonnie. Lynda was sassy and fun-loving. She enjoyed music of all kinds and in her younger years loved dressing up and going out on the town. That, and her affinity for fancy, embellished sunglasses earned her the affectionate nickname “Hollywood” from her friends. She adored her “kids” and loved spending time with them and her friends. She was a voracious reader and a crossword puzzle whiz. A private family gathering and celebration of her life will be held at later time. In lieu of flowers, Lori and Dean request family and friends consider memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Lung Association (www.alz.org or www.lung.org).
