Madeline Louise Prevatt McGowan, 79, a native of Jacksonville, FL , passed away on January 21, 2019. She went home to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, and was excited to be reunited with her first born son, Michael Wayne.
She was born to the late Marjorie and Vernon Prevatt on, March 28, 1939. She graduated from Landon High School and Jacksonville University. She earned her pilot’s license at the young age of 16.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael McGowan. They met in Hawaii and enjoyed over 56 years of marriage. Madeline is also survived by two children Sean (Cari), and Wendy; seven grandchildren: Meaghan (Bryce), Breanne, KC, Carli, Michael, Savannah, and Tristen; and two great-grandchildren: Adelynn Noelle and Kallie Anne. Madeline is also survived by her brothers, Vernon Prevatt and Richard (Lori) Prevatt, her sisters, Yvonne McCrone and Celeste (Wayne) Mercer, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored their Favorite Aunt Madeline.
Madeline was the life of the party. She always had a song in her heart and would sing often. She especially loved hymns and Disney songs. She was a poet and song writer and even co-wrote a musical. She loved working with horses and taught many to ride through the years. She bravely fought Parkinson’s for several decades and fought hard to not lose her ability to walk. Madeline led many of her friends and family to Christ.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 2, at 10am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 5042 Timuquana Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32210. A reception will immediately follow at the McGowan’s Home 176 Waller Way, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to your favorite charity
