Marie Yvonne Ehle, 60, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away on June 19th, 2022.
Marie was born to Max Edward Ehle and Yvonne Evelyn Acchote on August 28th, 1961, in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The family moved to Riva, Maryland, in 1961.
Marie graduated from Anne Arundel Community College in 1981 - AA/General Studies, Florida Community College at Jacksonville in 2001 - AS/Legal Assisting, and Jacksonville University in 2003 - BS/Sociology, Summa Cum Laude. She was a proud Phi Theta Kappan since 2000.
Marie worked as Office Assistant and Executive Administrator for KBJ Architects 2003-2011, as Executive Assistant for University of Jacksonville Healthcare 2011-2013, and as District Aide for District 18 of the House of Representatives 2013-2022.
Married to George Arthur Chamberlain, Jr. in 1982, Marie had daughter Erica Suzanne Chamberlain in 1985, son Jeffrey Elbert Chamberlain in 1987, and son Mark Ehle Chamberlain in 1989. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1999.
Marie's favorite activities were bargain hunting with her sister at garage sales and thrift stores, playing Mah-Jonng and Shanghai Rummy with her friends, annihilating all challengers at Scrabble, watching Saturday night college football, going to the movies on Sundays, and above all serving her community. The picture included here shows Marie at her desk doing what she loved most: helping others as a district aide. She loved her childhood in Maryland and was especially fond of crabs, mermaids, sailing ships and lighthouses.
Marie will be remembered as a fearless advocate, a supportive ally, a treasured friend, a discreet confidante, a prudent counselor, and on occasion, a brilliant sparring partner. She possessed an unwavering moral compass that guided her every action. Steadfast in her love and support, she was always there when we needed her; day or night, rain or shine, through thick and thin, she would answer the call, no matter what.
Marie was a wonderful, caring and tenacious public servant who faithfully served the People of Florida and the Florida House of Representatives for the past 11 years. It didn't matter to her who you were or what your story was; if you were a constituent of HD18 she would move heaven and earth to help you.
Marie was, quite simply, a person of the highest caliber. She was the best mother a son, daughter, or grandson could ever ask for. Her stalwart devotion to her friends and family, and her lifelong legacy of service to others over and above her own needs, reflects the highest possible credit upon her. She will be sorely missed.
Preceded in death by her father Max Edward Ehle and her stepfather Elbert Leroy Harden; may she enjoy peaceful eternity in their company.
Survived by her mother Yvonne Harden; sister Suzanne Holland & her husband Tim; daughter Erica Chamberlain & her son Andrew; son Jeffrey Chamberlain & his wife Irene; son Mark Chamberlain & his wife Natalie; may her memory be cherished by those who were fortunate to have known her.
Although her life took her body out of Maryland, nothing could ever take the Maryland out of her soul. Marie's final wish is for her ashes to be returned by her heirs to the South River in her hometown of Edgewater, MD, to ebb and flow with the tide of the Chesapeake Bay forevermore.
