Marilyn L. Maloney passed away on October 5, 2017 at age 77. She was born on November 16, 1939 to Walter W. Lutz and Esther Scully Lutz in, Kingston, NY. Shortly thereafter, she and her family moved to Albany, NY where she attended school and eventually met the love of her life, George. She and George were married in 1958 and have been together for nearly 60 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, George M. Maloney, and their four children; Jim Maloney, Debbie Roepe, David Maloney and Patty Maloney. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren; Shane Roepe, Kelsey Fisher, Devin Maloney, Ryan Roepe, Shannon and Kyle Maloney, Nicolas Maloney and Mikaela Maloney; and one great grandchild, Shelby Carpenter. She has one surviving sister, Shirley Pregent of Saratoga Springs, NY. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was deeply devout in her Catholic faith and dedicated her life to showing love and support by doing for others. Marilyn and George were high school sweethearts and graduated from Vincentian Institute High School in 1957. They continue to stay close to friends from high school and recently attended their 60th reunion. Marilyn worked as a stenographer for the FBI before staying home to raise her 4 children. After she recruited George into working for the FBI, he became a special agent and their young family moved from Albany and lived in many states around the country. After settling down in Plantation, Florida she went on to work as an Executive Assistant in the Broward County Schools for 20 years. George and Marilyn enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family during their retirement. Her true passion was spending time with her husband, family and friends and doting on them. She spent her spare time volunteering at Sacred Heart Church where she has been an active member of the Council of Catholic Women and Altar Guild. Marilyn was also an active member of the Magnolia Point Women’s Club since its inception. She loved playing cards with friends and family and spent her evenings playing piano, especially the songs written by her father. Services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 1 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7190 US Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL. Services will be followed by a reception open to all visitors. Services out of town will be on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10AM at the Parish of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph, 53 Herrick St, Rensselaer, NY 12144. Interment will follow services at the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 50 Herrick St., Rensselaer. All visitors are invited to join the family for a reception following services at the American Legion Post #1231, 200 Columbia Turnpike East Greenbush, NY.
