Max Kay Decker

Max Kay Decker, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 in Middleburg, FL at the age of 76. Max was born February 21, 1943, in Marion County, OH. He was married to Connie Decker (Looney) for 12 years. Max will be lovingly remembered by his children, Polly (Decker) Durning (Art), Zachary Decker, Michael David Mock (deceased), Shannon Mock, Ed Cotter (Holly), Cathy Sapp (Troy) and Sarah Swank (Jason). In addition, he will be dearly missed by his brother, Dave Decker (Sandy); 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Max was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Decker; father, Paul Decker; brother, Jerry Decker; and son, Michael David Mock.

Max grew up in Mt Gilead, OH and raised his children in Lexington, OH where he was a large part of the community; coaching sports and running many local businesses, including Decker Depot. He moved to Florida in 2012, where he was currently working in Jacksonville for ABM Services where his co-workers will miss his playful and positive spirit.

Max had a genuine heart, unconditional love and loved to joke around with family, friends and co-workers. He enjoyed working in his yard and relaxing in the pool. A celebration of his life was recently held in Florida and another will be held in Lexington, Ohio in the coming months. Details to be determined and posted on Facebook.
