Michael Patrick Murphy

Michael Patrick Murphy, 79, of Talent, Oregon, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 25, 1945, in Pasadena, California, Michael was the son of Patrick and Virginia Murphy.

Michael graduated from Southern Oregon University and went on to have a distinguished career in business and sales management. He worked for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company and later at Harry & David, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

He was married to the love of his life, Paula A. Murphy, for 49 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of love, adventure, and cherished memories. Michael was a devoted father to his daughters, Christina Murphy and Michelle Huggins, and a proud father-in-law to Joel Huggins. He adored his three grandchildren—Quinton, Alex, and Joshua Huggins, wife Ana — and delighted in the joy brought by his great-grandson, Elijah Huggins.

A man of many passions, Michael was an avid surfer, scuba diver, fisherman, camper, and hunter. Whether exploring the ocean's depths or spending time in the great outdoors, he embraced life with a sense of adventure. His salty personality, quick wit, and countless funny stories made him a beloved figure.

Michael will be fondly remembered for his love of travel, cruises, scotch and his ability to bring laughter and light to any gathering. He had a heart full of love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Reneau Murphy; daughters Christina Murphy and Michelle Huggins (Joel Huggins); grandchildren Quinton, Alex, and Joshua Huggins (Ana); great-grandson Elijah Huggins; and numerous extended family and friends who were touched by his humanity.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.
