Mildred C Jones

Mildred C. Jones, 92, born October 9, 1928 passed away October 31, 2020. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Kentucky, where she was raised before moving to Green Cove Springs.

She is survived by her four children; Kenny, Tim, Jackie and James Elswick; daughters-in-law Gloria and Sylvia Elswick; brothers Paul Stambaugh and Johnny (Teresa) Stambaugh and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mildred enjoyed working in her yard, painting, knitting, arts and crafts and spending time with family, neighbors and friends. She loved going to the dog track to bet on the Kentucky Derby and was a scratch-off winning machine. During the ‘60s and ‘70s, Mildred managed the Clay Theater and the Spring Park Pool. She was a great storyteller and an even better known woman who will be missed dearly by all who knew her. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating.  Burial will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
