Nancy A. Moore

September 13, 1939 — May 26, 2017

Nancy A. Moore was called Home to be with our Lord on May 26, 2017 at 10:44 pm.  She was born at home in Aberdeen, Ohio to her parents Robert Bailey Huff and Nancy Wilson Becket Huff.  She was the youngest of seven children with nineteen years between her and the eldest brother, Paul.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Bobby, and Billy; sisters, Nell Angst (Fred), Roberta Brothers (William), and her grandson, Cameron Beard.   Nancy, aka Mama, Grandmother, and GiGi, moved to Green Cove Springs in 1971, where she met and married her husband, whom she is survived by, Jerry Moore.  She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Elizabeth (Libby) Collins; daughters, Stephanie McCoy (her husband Kevin), Michelle Moore (her husband Johnny), Jeanette Moore, Jerri (Tootie) Phillips; her one and only son, Charles (Chip) Power (wife Michelle Gilliam); 6 granddaughters, Cheree', Alissa, Madisson, Amber, Elise, and Julia; 3 grandsons, Jerry, Gavin, and Robert; 3 great grandchildren, Makayla, Cameron, and Elena; a bevy of sisters, brothers in-law, nieces, nephews and friends, too many to mention, but, nonetheless loved.    She was one of the most forgiving women I have ever known, and she loved everyone deeply and unconditionally.  And though her love will forever live in our hearts, her hugs and kisses will surely be missed.   Nancy retired from her position as a CNA at Governor's Creek Nursing Home, where she was adored by the residents and admired by her peers.   She was of Christian Faith, and took great comfort in reading God's Word, being especially fond of the Books of Isaiah and John.  She loved praising The Lord in song, oftentimes being moved to tears.   She was an avid bird watcher, a trait passed down by her father, a member of the Audubon Society.  Her love of music came naturally from her mother who played for silent movies in addition to being the church pianist. She also loved dancing, as did her mother, which was frowned upon by her dad.  She told me that when grandmother would get carried away on the church piano and start tapping her foot, grandfather would give her a stern look over his glasses, and shake his head in disapproval.   Having the Ohio River just across the road of her childhood home instilled a fondness for the sights and sounds of river life.  She found her home away from home in the St. Johns River, her favorite spot being Spring Park, as it is for much of our family. We have made so many memories via birthday parties, weddings, picnics, etc.  Her Celebration of Life will be a bittersweet addition to the previous list of events, but I could not imagine a better place for a sendoff.    Until we meet again, Mama.   A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Congregational Holiness Church, 2079 SR16, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 with Reverend Ronnie Surrency officiating.  A celebration of life will follow the service from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Spring Park, 106 Walnut Street, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043.
