Paul Milton Herkenratt, 74, of Green Cove Springs, Florida (formerly of Cocoa, Florida) passed away January 15, 2025.
Born to Helen (McCloskey) and Harry Herkenratt on March 28, 1950, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Paul grew up in Miami, Florida and attended Southwest Miami High School. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in June 1967 and retired as Senior Chief Boatswain Mate in August 1987. In May 1997, Paul graduated with his Drafting and Design Technology degree and began his next career as a Drafting Engineer with several engineering firms in Brevard County. After retiring the second time, he become an active member of the American Legion Indian River Post 22 and American Legion Riders Post 22 in Cocoa, Florida. Paul was also a previous member of the Cape Kennedy Corvette Club.
Paul enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, leather upholstering, watching westerns, war movies, and anything with Errol Flynn. He was also a lifelong Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins football fan and liked watching football games with his family.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, cousin, Jimmy DeLorenzo and nephew Devin Haber.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, RoseAnn (Fulk), daughters, Amy (Levi) Manhan of Jacksonville, Florida, Wendy Herkenratt of Saint Augustine, Florida, sister, Valerie (Lewis) Haber of Ocala, Florida, grandchildren, Andrew (Sara) Manhan of Jacksonville, Florida, Zoe (Dakota) Harp of Cartersville, Georgia, grandpups, Maggie Mae, Millie, Adaline, Phoebe, Ophelia, Gemma Chan, and Imogen, great granddaughter, Jaycee Harp, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the American Legion Post 22 in Cocoa, Florida on January 26, 2025, at 2:00 P.M.
Military funeral honors will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to his fellow vets can be made to the American Legion Indian River Post 22, 241 Peachtree Street, Cocoa, Florida 32922, in his memory.
