Reynold "Rennie" Zanetti

October 20, 1933 — May 8, 2021

Reynold “Rennie” Zanetti, Green Cove Springs, FL, formerly of Fairfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2021.

He was born to Roger and Frieda Zanetti on October 20, 1933, in Passaic, New Jersey.

Rennie was married to his loving wife, Marian, for more than 55 years.  He was a 1955 graduate of the Newark College of Engineering (now, New Jersey Institute of Technology), Newark, New Jersey, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering.  After college he worked for DuPont, Howe Richardson Scale, and Merrick Scale prior to starting his own business in the industrial load cell and commercial scale market.

Rennie was very active within the New Apostolic Church where he served as a lay minister for more than 45 years.  He was dedicated to serving others and volunteered with the American Red Cross’ Disaster Response and the Clay County Attorney’s Office.  Rennie also volunteered in several capacities at The Player’s Championship-Sawgrass and other PGA venues throughout his retired years.

Rennie loved to play golf, and in his earlier years was a fantastic and graceful skier.  As a fitting beginning to his and Marian’s fairytale marriage, these two city folks from northern New Jersey met for the first time in Aspen, Colorado, on the slopes.  As such, Rennie took his family on yearly winter ski vacations to the Green Mountains of Vermont, to ski Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf as often as possible with Marian, as well as with his good buddies in the Men’s League at Magnolia Point Country Club.  He was also very fond of the Western United States where he and Marian took several memorable vacations.

Family and friends remember Rennie as a great and fun guy who made everyone laugh.

Rennie was preceded in death by his brother Gerald of Greenwood Lake, NY.  He is survived by his wife, Marian, of Green Cove Springs, FL, his daughter Amy and husband Scott of Buffalo, New York and son Chris and wife Julie of Hagerstown, Maryland, as well as sister-in-law, Lucy, and niece, Elissa, and her husband Gordon, of Greenwood Lake, NY.  Rennie was the cherished grandfather of David, Jacob, and Zachary.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 11:00 am, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.
