On the evening of April 27th, 2022, Richard Lee Brown left this world for the pearly gates. Richard entered this world on March 5th, 1956, in Atlanta, GA. When he was still young, his family moved to Jacksonville, FL where he attended Southside Elementary School and Sandalwood High School. It was in the later that he met the love of his life, Wendy (Horn) Brown. Soon after graduation, the two were married in holy matrimony on October 24th, 1975. Over the ensuing years, their union was blessed with two children: Richard Brown and Susan (Brown) Sceifers.
Richard worked at Standard Precast for almost 40 years. He worked as the Purchasing and Safety manager for the company. He was well respected and endeared for his work ethic and dedication to the company. He made lifelong friends here and retired from Standard Precast in 2020.
Richard served the Lord through active ministry as an ordained minister and deacon. Most recently, he was an active member of Harbor Baptist Church. Always one to help others, he spent his time helping those in need by building computers for those that could not afford one, obtaining donations for those who lost everything, and providing a lending hand where he could. He was loved by many because of his kindness, compassion, and generosity.
Beyond the ministry, Richard had a passion for working on classic cars and trucks. He would restore one and when it was nearly fully restored, he would sell or trade it for a junker to start the restoration process anew. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping and fishing, but these only took up his time until he had the opportunity to explore caves; a favorite being Ruby Falls. A lifelong fan of western novels and shows, he had one day hoped to explore more of the West and visit places such as Lookout Mountain, Colorado.
Richard was a loving husband to his wife Wendy Brown. He was loving father to his son Richard Brown and his spouse Claudia as well as to his daughter Susan Sceifers and her spouse Thomas. He was a loving papa to his grandchildren: Arianna, Abigail, Landon, Logan, and Joslyn. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Frances Brown, his sister, Teresa Shanks, and his brother, Matthew Brown.
He will be remembered for his love of the Lord, the people he touched through his caring acts, and through the family he will one day see again.
A celebration of his life will be held at Harbor Baptist Church (1120 Clay St. Fleming Island, Florida, 32003). On May 21, 2022, visitation will start at 10:30 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM and ending with fellowship and lunch.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Richard’s name via www.gideons.org/donate (Choose Faith Fund) to support Bible distribution or to Harbor Baptist Building Fund to help support a project that Richard’s heart was in for the Lord. (1120 Clay St. Fleming Island, Florida, 32003)
