Richard W. Hornsby 69, of Middleburg, FL was taken by the angels on July 28, 2018. After 17 months his battle with cancer is over. He was born January 24, 1949 in Winter Haven, Florida and lived in Haynes City, Fl. and South Boston, Va. most of his life. Richard was a hard worker and had worked for Superior Construction Company for over 20 years. He was a good person who enjoyed his family especially the children. They all remember him playing with them. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps in Viet Nam.
He was married for 29 years to his wife Virginia. He loved vacationing while visiting relatives and friends in Virginia, Missouri and Louisiana and of course going through the mountains was always a bonus. His hobby was working in the yard. He also loved his easy chair and the ID channel and the Jaguars and football in general.
He was preceded by his parents, Benjamin F. Hornsby and Kathryn Hornsby-Petty, his brother, Michael and his daughter, Michelle. Richard leaves his wife, Virginia, his stepchildren, Jack and Andrea, and of course the grandchildren, Monica, Peyton, Jessica, Jonathon, Joshua and Jacob and especially his niece his “adopted grandchild” Kayleigh. He is survived also by his brothers, Benjamin (Allison) and Gregory Hornsby (Rhonda), and their children, Benjamin, Noah, Ethan, Jude, Mia, Gregory Dale, Tiffany, Travis, Michelle and Caleb and many other nieces and nephews and cousins.
We will always miss you and your sense of humor, your hard work and quiet love for everyone.
