Richard Lamar Jackson, 76 of Palatka, FL passed away Tuesday April 27, 2021. Born to Carl and Pauline Jackson April 30, 1944 in Adairsville, Ga. After his family moved to central Florida Lamar graduated from Maynard Evans High School and then went into the Air Force where he served 4 years. He then moved back to central FL where he became a career truck driver. Lamar was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Palatka and enjoyed working outdoors, tending to his garden, and grilling out.
He will be remembered for his famous ribs, which he lovingly prepared for family and friends on any given occasion, and his infectious smile. His favorite pastime was gathering with family and friends, nothing made him happier. He loved to joke and make people laugh.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, and mother of his daughters, Gail Jackson and his parents, Carl and Pauline Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Doris Jackson, his daughters Renee Archaga (Javier) of Apopka, FL., Jennifer Jones (Jeremiah) of Clayton, Ga., stepchildren, Harold Rudd (Nancy) of Pinellas Park, FL., Linda Kersey (Kent) of Middleburg, FL., Sharon Burgett, of Vancouver, Wa., Brian Bausman of Warrenton, Va., brother Asmon Jackson (Cathy) of Vidalia, Ga., sisters Kathryn Azalee Richardson of Roopville, Ga., Carol Rychlock (Tom) of Apopka, FL., Loretta Edge of Mt. Vernon, Ga., Sharon Jackson of Mt. Vernon, Ga., 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was an adored husband, dad, son, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend.
The family will receive friends from 10:00am – 11:00am, Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. The funeral service will follow starting at 11:00 am, with Pastor Derek Ashford officiating. Graveside service to follow at Deese Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
