Richard "Dick" Sadler

January 26, 1939 — August 27, 2018

Richard Allen Sadler (79) beloved husband, father and grandfather went home to be in the presence of the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2018.  Born on January 26, 1939 in Milford, MA he is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Lois Sadler and his sister Linda Sadler Siegrist.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife Charlotte Sporich Sadler; son, Scott Sadler; daughter, Kimberly (Garry) Crews; son, Stephen (Nicole) Yates; grandchildren, Dr. Corey (Kimberly) Sadler and Emily Sadler; former daughter-in-law, Dawn Sadler; grandchildren, Evan Yates, Payton Yates and Miller Yates; and cousins, nephews, nieces and many loving close friends.

Raised in New England, Dick graduated from N. Attleboro, MA high school, and Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. While attending Quinnipiac, Dick was a member of Kappa Delta Mu Fraternity and while following one of his passions, Dick was a member of the Golf Team.  His love of golf began when he was in the 6th grade. Dick had a great passion for all sports, coaching Little League and Girls Softball, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, and when the Jaguars were given the NFL franchise, Dick was first in line to buy season tickets. Although NFL was his favorite, he soon became a fan of Bobbie Bowden and the FSU Seminoles.  Dick was a member of Green Cove Springs Elks Lodge #1892, Green Cove Springs, FL.

Raised Episcopalian and a past member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Fleming Island, Dick served in many capacities including his tenure as Senior Warden of the Vestry. His claim to fame was “Kitchen Manager “during the Annual Tour and Tea and keeping the ladies straight in the kitchen.

In Dick’s early career he was associated with the food industry while in New England, working for Stop & Shop, IGA , later moving to Florida with a career in the repair and maintenance for steamship lines. A career change later for another passion lead Dick to wholesale nursery sales.  Dick always enjoyed “tinkering” in the yard and always ready to offer advice to younger neighbors on plants and shrubs.

Dick Sadler’s life boasts of what God can do when one man is willing to hold fast to his character, work hard, honor his wife, lead his family and make a difference. Dick had a zest for life, always finding the good in everything and the best in his dearest friends and family.  His easy-going demeanor with his sparkling blue eyes is a blessing to all who knew him. One of his favorite expressions “This Too Will Pass” has always been comforting to all who knew him.  Due to many health issues, Dick was unable to continue his utmost love to volunteer and serve in church activities and the Elks Lodge. Dick’s nature to be a “people person” made him a true asset to any organization.

Above all, Dick was a man with a contagious smile, kind heart, always willing to help, and who loved family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A heartfelt thank you to Vivianette and Roxanne, for all your love and support while caring for Mr. Sadler.  You will always have a special place in our hearts.   Thank you to the staff at the Isle Rehab Center in Fleming island …...you always went above and beyond for his care.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Grace Anglican Church, 5804 Highway 17, Fleming Island, Florida 32003 with the Very Reverend Mike McDonald officiating.
