Richard M. Sullivan, age 70, passed away in Orange Park, FL on July 16, 2017. Richard was born in Brooklyn, NY in August 1946. His parents, Geraldine and Michael C. Sullivan predeceased him. He lived his early years in Connecticut graduating from Waterford High School in 1964. Richard was a star left handed pitcher for the Waterford Lancers. Rich then joined the U.S. Navy and served proudly for 20 years retiring with the rank of YN 1st Class Petty Officer. He then lived the rest of his life in Florida never forgetting to ask us how much snow we had to shovel as he came back from a 60 degree ride on his motorcycle. He remained a fan of his New York Yankees and New York Giants even at their worst. Rich is survived by his daughter, Teresa Sullivan; son, Patrick Sullivan and his wonderful caring former wife, Candy who made his last days comfortable. Also surviving is his sister, Marie Boiselle of East Lyme, CT; brothers, Michael Sullivan of Niantic, CT and Lawrence Sullivan of Stonington, CT. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 28, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Middleburg with Pastor Bobby Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, with full military honors, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to First Baptist Church of Middleburg.
