Richard V. Woodson, 71, of Orange Park, Florida passed away at his residence Saturday September 23rd, 2017 from complications of Crohn’s disease, which had been part of his life for 30 years. He was born in Houston, Mississippi, September 29th, 1945, to Vardaman and Vadie Woodson, who preceded him in death. He graduated in 1963 from Manatee High School, Bradenton, Florida. He served his country in the Florida Army National Guard, Battery C 1st Battalion 116th Artillery, Palmetto, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Handville Woodson after celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary September 14, 2017. His children are Melinda Beane (Bill) of Orange Park and Andrew Woodson of Durham, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Woodson Sauls (Cecil) of Pensacola, FL. and his sister-in-law Kathy Hood of Bradenton, Florida. Rick retired after 39 years with Walgreen’s. He started his career in Bradenton, Florida. His journey with Walgreen’s included working in Ft. Myers, Jacksonville, Dothan, Alabama and then returning to the Jacksonville District in 1987. He accepted Christ as his Savior as a teenager and was a member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park, Florida. His interests included reading, painting, golf, and fishing. He was an avid fan of Florida State Seminoles and NASCAR. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 745 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Florida 32065, or the Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church of Orange Park, Florida.
