Rita May Huck (Zinda) of Green Cove Springs, Florida, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, April 30th, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Clifford Huck and the dear mother of Cheryl (Mike) and Kenneth (Brigit). She was cherished by her grandchildren, Leroy (Sarah), Andrea, Tina, Tracy, Rebecca (Nicholas), and Kathryn (Rob). Her ten great-grandchildren adored their Gigi. She is further survived by Niece Terri, Nephews Bruce and Brian, and their families.
Rita May had a zestful life. Throughout her life, Rita May enjoyed spending her time laughing and talking with family and friends. Some of her fondest memories were being on the water and camping (?). In her younger years, Rita May loved photography and bought herself a camera with her first paychecks. Rita May also loved classical music and served as the second chair violist in the Milwaukee Catholic Symphony. She married her high-school sweetheart, Clifford Huck, in January of 1958. With her husband and two children, she helped to establish a wonderful family that laughed, joked, played cards, and supported one another. Rita May would golf, bowl, and play games with her children’s growing families. She also loved to play with the grandchildren. Not only did Rita May enjoy so many activities, she also enjoyed a “toddy” or two with her Friday Fish Fries.
While living in Florida with Mike and Cheryl, she established new friends and relationships. She loved going to the Elks Lodge and telling stories with new people. She enjoyed being around her Florida family and always brought joy and kindness to everyone she encountered.
Rita May cherished all the friendships and relationships that she has created over the span of her eighty-two years of life. She had a huge heart for all she met and dearly loved animals. She was a wonderful mother, aunt, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all.
We will celebrate Rita May Huck in both Florida and Wisconsin. The memorial mass will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, July 11, 2020 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Fr. Michael Pendergraft as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Green Cove Springs Food Pantry.
