Robert Calley

John Robert Calley , 82 of Penney Farms, Fl passed away on July 29th, 2024. Robert was born in Lake City, Fl.. on December 31, 1941. to parents John Riley and Mary Elizabeth Starnes.

Robert grew up and spent most of his childhood in Jacksonville, moving to Penney Farms in the 70's. Robert worked at the Jacksonville shipyard and Mayport and was their #1 certified welder for over 12 years. When he wasn't working, you could always find him in the woods deer hunting running dogs and fox with his beloved hounds winning many trophies.

He loved being on the water fishing and spending quality time with his family and friends. Robert loved listening to old classic country music. George Jones, Vern Gosdin, Don Williams to name a few. He loved westerns and black and white movies. Robert leaves behind many cherished memories for his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents John Riley and Mary Elizabeth Calley. Brothers Willie, Raymond, Alvin(Boss) . Sister Diane Kiedrowski, Great grandson Caden .

Survived by his sister Barbara Wollitz (Bob) and brother Pete Calley (Becky) Children Deborah Hunter (Griffin) Robin Deel (Curtis) and John Calley Jr. Grandchildren Dougie, Brandin (Brandi), Emily, Courtney (Charlie), Corey (Shelby), Logan (Dustin), and John Grady. Great grandchildren Warren, Waylin, Lana, Westin, Anabelle, Ra-Ra, Birdie, Lil Brandin, Beau, Benjamin and Dusty.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, at the Broadus-Raines Chapel from 6 to 8pm. Services will be held the following day, August 2, at the Broadus-Raines Chapel at 11am. Burial will follow at Penney Farms Cemetery.
