Robert "Bobby" Glick, Jr.

July 30, 1956 — January 6, 2020

Robert “Bobby” Glick Jr., 63, of Middleburg, FL passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs on Saturday, January 11th at 10 am. This is a celebration of his life and the mark that he left on many lives. Though no one would ever dare call him a soft man, and he would undoubtedly have a few words about any grandiose shows of emotion or hysterical bouts of undignified weeping, we are sure he will understand if you need to bring a few tissues.

He was born in Pueblo, Colorado to Joan and Robert Glick Sr. on July 30, 1956- both of whom preceded him in death along with his sister, Dotty. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelly Glick; sons Johnathon St. Luise and William “T.J” Scott; daughter Marian Torres; daughter in law Ciara Mayer; son in law David “Mike” Sloas Jr; Mother in law Louise St. Luise; Sister in law Sandy St. Luise and a countless number of extended family and loved ones.

Robert Glick was a true patriot. He spent 5 years as an international police officer, 15 years with Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and over 5 years with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. He retired from the Navy after serving 21 years as an aviation engineer. We’re pretty sure he was secretly a superhero.

“Soldier Dad”, as he was lovingly referred to by all his wayward un-biological children, was a truly remarkable man. It should be noted that he did not lose his battle with cancer, as Soldier Dad never lost a fight in his life. Despite his intimidating exterior, chronic case of “RBF”, and a gruff manliness that even Chuck Norris envied, there is actual evidence that he was a loving, giving, and caring person. That evidence is the deep sorrow and pain felt in the hearts of his family and friends. He will forever be loved, cherished, and immortalized in our memories.
