Robert Earl Harmon, 81, of Green Cove Springs, Florida 32043 passed away May 29, 2018. Born March 23, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio to Earl W. Harmon and Gertrude M. Roesch Harmon.
He honorably served in the Armed Forces of the United States. He was married to Laurie A. Dawson Harmon for 41 years. He has two sons, Michael R. Harmon (Linda) and Stephen J. Harmon (Sally); grandchildren, Jocelyn Nolan Wiltgen (Bryon), Drew Nolan, Anne Marie Harmon, Kate Ellen Harmon, Brittany Clare Harmon, Matthew M. Harmon and Taylor Rae Harmon; and great-granddaughter, Elena Belle Wiltgen.
A CPA and CFO & CEO working in the finance industry throughout his career – Ernst & Ernst in Chicago, Illinois – Saginaw Savings and Loan later Family Federal Savings & Loan in Saginaw, Michigan – Champion Federal Savings & Loan in Bloomington, Illinois – First of America in Kalamazoo, Michigan and M&I in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Avid golfer – member of Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club and Germania in Michigan and Crestwicke in Illinois. He loved traveling and playing at golf courses across the United States, England, and Ireland – from Pebble Beach to Old Head.
Throughout his life he loved and participated in sports – basketball, baseball, football, golf, fishing, and boating and “Poker”! He saw and appreciated the beauty of nature from the morning dew covered greens on the golf course to the beautiful sunsets and the glow of the full moon lighting the night sky.
And he loved watching sports and following his favorite team and was a true-blue fan of the University of Michigan – “GO BLUE”!!
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 8, 2018 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating.
