Robert James Kessler

October 21, 1925 — February 22, 2021

Robert James Kessler (Bob), 95, of Green Cove Springs Florida has gone to be with the lord February 22nd 2021. He passed peacefully at home with his wife, Marilyn, holding his hand and reading the 23rd psalm. Born on Oct. 21st 1925 to Eber James Kessler and Lucille Tricker in Mineola, NY. He had a wonderful childhood. Although it was during the Great Depression. He grew up surrounded by love, a caring family, and fishing with his brother, Jerry. He adored working for his grandfather at his moving and storage company absorbing many skills and work ethics.

He served in active duty in the US Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 aboard a LST (Landing Ship Tank) and participated in many famous pacific naval campaigns.  He was a graduate of Hofstra University on the GI bill and started his working career as a project manager for Airborne Instruments in Mineola.

He and his family of three young children moved to Pennsylvania in 1965 to start his entrepreneurial phase of his life.  That included partnering with the family in Muller’s Diner. During those 35 years, he started and ran many businesses in the Marshalls Creek, PA area; from Tocks Island Marina, Rob-Ral Gulf Gas & Diesel station, The Dutchman, to a used car lot.  Bob always strived for excellence. Eager for new challenges, he became a real-estate agent serving the Pocono Mountains before retiring and leaving the area.

Bob and Marilyn moved down to Green Cove Springs, Florida in 2000 to begin their retirement phase of life, but that did not last long.  He started working for his son, Keith and daughter in-law, Dina’s Marketing and printing company, Kessler Creative in Jacksonville, FL. before finally retiring “for good” at age 92.

Bob was well liked by all that met him. One of his favorite occasions in life was spending time out on his boat with Marilyn at Goldsmith’s Marina in Southold Long Island, NY. He especially loved spending time with his sons fishing, golfing and of course, conversing.  There is so much more, but for sure, Bob led a very full and happy life.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn Muller Kessler, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, his brother, Jerry and his wife, Alice Kessler of Greenport, Long Island, NY, his Brother-in-law, Ralph, and his wife, Debbie Muller, of Highland Beach, Florida, his daughter, Laura Kessler, of East Stroudsburg, PA, his son, Scott Kessler, of Marshalls Creek, Pa and his son, Keith and his wife, Dina Kessler, of Jacksonville, Florida. Six grandchildren; Erich Helmick of East Stroudsburg, PA, Peter Helmick of Cedar Run, NJ, Brittany Baker of Bethlehem, PA, Madison Kessler of NYC, Blake Kessler of Chicago, IL and Ryan Kessler of Marshalls Creek, PA. Also two very adorable great grandchildren; Jackson Baker and Ezra Helmick, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be gathering in Southampton, Long Island, NY in April to celebrate his life and inter his ashes in the family plot. And per his request many times, we are going to say a prayer and throw a line at Flounders Landing in Southold, Long Island.
