Robert William Lang

Robert William Lang passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020. He was born November 27, 1937 in East New York. He is survived by his wife Diane of 36 years; children from a previous marriage Patty, Barbara (Mike), Sandy (Carmin); grandchildren, Kristen (Jeff), Kimberly (Sean), Brian, Anna, Mia and Adam; great-grandchildren, Bennett, Nathan and Kaylee.

He was a graduate of Oswego State University in upstate New York, a member of Beta Tau Espilon, and enjoyed attending a few Beta reunions.

He began his career at North Babylon High School, NY, teaching Industrial Arts, and became chairman of the Department and retired as an Assistant Principal in 1993.

Bob had many side jobs summer policeman in Suffolk County, NY, Babylon Bay Constable patrolling the beaches and Great South Bay of Long Island, handy man, construction and was the town judge of Bleecker, NY for ten years.

He was a member of the Elks, Moose, Eagles, Mason, Fraternal Order of Police, Concordia, Pine Tree Club and the President of the NY State Baseball Umpires for over ten years.

Bob officiated baseball, soccer, basketball, boys and girls softball, college football and was on the field for high school football for over 50 years. When he no longer could work the field, he worked the time clock. He loved his football.

There is a saying, “Jack of all trades, master in none”. Bob was a master in all, he designed his retirement home in upstate NY. After having the frame built, he finished most of the house himself (with the help of his wife) including the electric, heating, plumbing, painting and laying all the wood floors. He added a big den, a big shed, all the decks and dock.

Bob became a snowbird, winter in Florida and summer in Upstate New York.

Bob enjoyed his retirement visiting family and friends, playing golf, cards, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, working at the YMCA, having coffee with his 4 friends and going out to eat.

He enjoyed traveling the USA in his fifth wheel with his wife Diane and dog, Bart, visited all 50 states, cruising, boating and fishing on Peck Lake, NY.

He led a very fulfilling life.
