Robert Emmett Russell, Sr.

Robert “Bob” Emmett Russell, 72, of Green Cove Springs, Florida passed away on May 26, 2024.  Born to his late parents Charles E. Russell and Barbara A. Russell (Gately) on December 1, 1951 in Boston, Bob lived in Massachusetts for many years, before relocating to Florida.  He spent over 20 years living in Key West and the last 5 years in Green Cove Springs.   Over the years he worked as a mail carrier, EMT/dispatcher, in the hospitality industry, and transported vehicles for Garber Automall.  He worked the election polls in Clay County, volunteered at the Senior Center in Green Cove Springs, was a member and House Committee Chairman of the Elks Club, and a proud supporter of the Clay PAL Guardians.

Bob was full of life and had a charismatic personality.   He was generous, thoughtful, charming, and witty, a loyal friend to all who knew him, and always elicited a good laugh.   He loved the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics, and was a huge fan of Diana Ross.  Bob enjoyed fishing, watching golf, baking, playing Bingo and Poker, and indulging in Mountain Dew and peanut butter cups.  He adored his two cats, Bosco and Oreo, and referred to them as his “boys”.  He also was an enthusiastic and proud spectator at his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.  He will be so very missed.

Bob was predeceased by his partner, Jack Jones.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Courtney Russell, and is survived by his children Robert Russell Jr. (wife Amy Russell), Jennifer Russell Lapointe (husband Brian Lapointe), Brian Russell (wife Kaitlyn Russell), and Eric Russell (wife Tanya Russell).  He leaves behind grandchildren Benjamin Howard, Brooke Paige (husband Justis Paige), Jacob Russell, Zachary Russell, Oliver Gilmore, Brayden Lapointe, Simon Russell, Brielle Lapointe, Austin Lee, Kaylee Defoe, Jacob Defoe, and Baby Hallie on the way, and he was predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Ariya Paige.  Bob was predeceased by his brothers Charles Russell, Thomas Russell, Glenn Russell, and Richard Foley as well as his sister Diane Ethier, and is survived by three siblings, Stephen Russell, Nancy MacDonald, and Jean Brown.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00AM in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.  Immediately following the service, the family will be hosting a reception at the Elks Lodge located at 702 SR 16-W, Green Cove Springs, Florida, 32043 and all friends and family are welcome to attend both the service and the reception.
