Ronald Leo Lacey

Ronald Leo Lacey, 85, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed quietly on December 29, 2019. He was born in Dayton, KY to Leo and Sarah Elizabeth Lacey on July 27, 1934. In 1958 he married the love of his life, Barbara Revel and raised their beautiful daughters, Pamela Sue (Ed) and Rhonda Ann (Matt), in Cincinnati, OH. Proud service in the US Air Force (USAAF) as a Communications Technician served as a basis of some of his fondest memories and deepest laughter. He spent several decades working for Cincinnati Gas and Electric (Duke Energy) and retired with relish and grand cruise ship travel plans.

Ron possessed a quiet strength that family and friends sought in both good times and challenging ones. Encouragement, compassion and a good story were never in short supply with Ron – often administered with a wry smile and comforting chuckle. His relocation to FL was a bucket list accomplishment that allowed him to enjoy his loved daily warmth and chase some sport fish offshore and off the beach. His work with Hi-Liner Fishing Gear in Green Cove Springs proved transformative for Ron and everyone that worked there. In short, you could not find better company.

Always a source of pride and often his conversation starter – family and grandchildren were the center of his universe. As an example, and standard of men his grandchildren; Derek, Cincinnati, OH, Brooke (Philip), Springfield, MO, Victoria, Cincinnati, OH and James, Cincinnati, OH will be served well by his memory. His rare combination of selfless humility, commitment, grace and family focus was loved by all and will be missed by many. We will all see him next at the wheel of his beloved Austin Healey 3000 on his way to a University of Kentucky basketball game.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 3, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church of Green Cove Springs with Reverend Mark Hults officiating.
