Ronnie "RC" Clevinger

October 6, 1954 — March 20, 2024

Ronnie "RC" Clevinger was born October 6, 1954, in Moultrie Georgia to Kermit Clyde Clevinger and Josephine Lee Clevinger (Griffith). He passed away peacefully in his childhood home surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Ronnie was a brother and a friend to Robert, Beck, Janie, Tony and Ruth. He was the proud parent of Carrie, John, Dusty, Michael, Lisa and Tracy.

Ronnie spent his entire career driving a truck. He started out driving a milk truck for Gustafson's Dairy; that is where his love for the open road started. He loved to run, it didn’t matter if it was in the morning or the afternoon. He always made sure to keep a healthy diet except for his occasional ice cream. He never stayed in one place too long, but he always made his way home to Jacksonville. He loved the smell and sound of a semi, but never slept a night in one, always staying at a motel; never mind the rating of the “hotel,” it was always “motel" to Ronnie. During his career, Ronnie was a proud member of the Teamsters Union for over 30 years. In 1979 in Harrisburg PA, he received the “1 Million Miles with No Accidents” award. In true Clevinger fashion, RC made sure himself and his belongings were always fresh and clean, a little bit of that O.C.D.

Along with his love for open road was Ronnie’s love for baseball. From playing at Carl Pugh Park Little League to Clay High and sharing the love for the game with his sons to taking his older sons to watch their brother play in world series. After spending so much time away on the open road, he was happy to retire and spend more time with Robbin, enjoying the finer things in life like Jimmy Buffet concerts and Lynard Skynyrd karaoke. He was also thrilled to spend time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Josephine Clevinger, his sister Janie, and his brother Robert Everett.

He is survived by life partner of 15 years Robbin Green, his children Carrie, John, Dusty, Michael, Lisa & Tracy, his 12 grandchildren Lexi, Ali, Karly, Kayla, Cassidy, Brett, John Thomas (JT), Gavin, Anna, Penelope, Piper & Mila, and his great-grandchildren Carter, Vallen and Waylon.

A funeral service will be held for Ronnie on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 11:00am in the Broadus-Raines chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time.
