Rose “Nan” Nanette Weeks, 76, of Green Cove Springs, went home to be with her Lord on May 14, 2023, after a brief stay at Community Hospice McGraw Center in Jacksonville. Her late parents were George “Buck” and Lila Weeks
She was born March 23, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia. The family moved to Green Cove Springs when Nan was eight years old. She graduated from Clay High School in 1965 and Florida State University in 1969.
Nan went on to be employed by the State of Florida for 30 years as a Case Manager. She served hundreds of disadvantaged and at-risk children and youth in Jacksonville. When asked about her commitment, she simply replied, “They need my help.” She was faithful to assist them in making a better life for themselves.
She was devoted to her entire family, looking after her parents in Green Cove and treating her nieces, nephews and great-nieces as her own children. She was creative with arts and crocheting, making many beautiful quilts and throws for family and friends.
Nan not only touched many lives at work, with family, and with friends, but also was an avid animal lover. She volunteered countless hours helping animals and fostered many of them, especially cats. She was always ready to provide a loving home and safe environment.
Nan was very spiritual with a deep faith in God. She was compassionate, tough, stubborn, and kindhearted. She never complained and was always seeking ways to encourage and help others. She had a true servant’s heart and will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her brother, Dr. George (Patricia) Weeks of Macclenny, FL; nieces, Alicia (Phil) Schell, and Victoria Weeks; nephew, Christopher Weeks; grandnieces, Anna Belle and Capri Schell, all of Jacksonville; and many cousins.
