Roy James Langlais, 80, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023. He was born on April 19, 1943 in Northampton, MA to Paul Emile and Bernice Langlais. Roy’s life epitomized service, evident in his unwavering dedication during his twenty years of service in the US Navy, where he achieved the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. During his military career, he attained both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in human resource management from Pepperdine University. Following his retirement from the Navy, Roy embarked on a twenty-eight-year career at Logistic Services International, Inc. (LSI) where he retired as a Vice President. Roy's true joy stemmed from his family. His nearly sixty-year marriage to Claire was a testament to enduring love, resilience, and unwavering support, fostering a foundation of strength for their children and grandchildren. As a father, Roy was an example of love, sacrifice, and guidance. His wisdom and selflessness molded the lives of David, Stuart, and Michael. Roy found solace and comfort in his Catholic faith, which remained a guiding force throughout his life. He appreciated the beauty of nature and enjoyed RV'ing, boating, camping, and golfing. His commitment to the community extended beyond family; Roy was instrumental in founding the West Duval Youth Soccer Association in the 1970s. Roy is survived by his wife Claire, his sons David (Rhonda), Stuart (Kim), & Michael (Victoria), his three siblings Judy, Bernard, & Linda, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. A funeral service to celebrate Roy's life and honor his military service will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery—the date and time to be determined. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Ortega Gardens Memory Care for their compassion, care and support given to Roy and his family.
