Russell F. Misner October 26, 1930 - January 17, 2023 Born on October 26, 1930, in Yonkers, New York, Russell F. Misner was the only child of Frank and Sophie Misner. He died peacefully and mercifully in his sleep just as he had petitioned in prayer. Russ enjoyed living on the St. Johns River for more than 50 years and in his younger years enjoyed watersports with the family boat. Russ retired from the Navy Reserve in 1978 and Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) in 1987 and continued to remain active in his church and community well past retirement. Russ was a faithful and consistent servant to his church parish of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island for over 50 years and an active member of Knights of Columbus. As a gunsmith and volunteer to Gateway Gun Club he served as Treasurer and to Vystar Federal Credit Audit Committee served as Vice Chairman until 2019. As an accomplished private pilot, Russ enjoyed regular flights in his single engine airplane, the “Polish Eagle” almost until his 92nd birthday. He enjoyed time with his family, was a dearly loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and devoted husband to Anna Marie Misner, whom he loved and cared for so well until she passed away a few days prior to his death. Russ was survived by his son Paul (Cindy), grandson’s Hunter, Stephen and Jacob, his daughter Linda, grandsons Daniel (Kristin) and Drew, and four great-grandchildren; Grace, Audrey, Eliana and Nathan. Russ’ memorial mass will be Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church along with his wife, Anna Marie, who died January 11, 2023. Russ will be buried at Jacksonville Memory Gardens near his wife and parents at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 with military honors.
