Ruth Viola Sheaffer Shively of Middleburg, Florida, formerly of Fairfax, Virginia, entered into rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her sleep on June 7, 2018, at the Dr. Gaston Acosta-Rua Hospice Care Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on December 19, 1937, in Shermansdale, Pennsylvania, Ruth was the daughter of the late Ora M. Sheaffer (Zeigler) and Amos O. Sheaffer both of whom precede her in death. Ruth was also predeceased by her siblings, Dorothy Mary Sheaffer (Mullen), Alma Elizabeth Sheaffer (Dum), Esther Marie Sheaffer (Reed), Edna Mae Sheaffer (Jones), Ada Naomi Sheaffer (Deitch), and Charles Henry Sheaffer.
Ruth graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School in 1955. She attended Central Penn College in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She taught career and technical education classes at Shippensburg University. She was self-employed as a representative for Sarah Coventry, was the owner-operator of Ruth Shively’s Beauty Salon in Newville, Pennsylvania, and was a licensed Realtor in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
Ruth was a dedicated wife and mother and grandmother and is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frederick Charles Shively of Middleburg, FL; her daughter, Dr. Rebekah Ruth Shively of Middleburg, Florida and a grandson, Michael Frederick Charles Bliss of Fairfax, Virginia.
Ruth was a member of Grace Anglican Church, Fleming Island, Florida; she was previously a member of Truro Anglican Church, Fairfax, Virginia, and Snyder’s United Methodist Church, New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with The Rev. Christopher Klukas officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service. The graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Lane #3.
