Ryan Patrick Staley

Ryan Patrick Staley, age 34, was called home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday evening of December 21, 2021. He passed quietly at home in Fleming Island, FL.

He was born in Portsmouth, VA in 1987 to parents Richard and Amy Staley.

He graduated from the FLYCA (Florida Youth Challenge Academy) program at Camp Blanding in Starke, FL in December of 2004, with the help and support of his mentor, Paul M., who Ryan loved and respected.

He then attended and completed FCCJ’s Aviation Program and went to work as a sheet metal worker for the Department of the Navy at the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Jacksonville.

Ryan attended River Christian Church in Fleming Island, FL where he was so proud to have been baptized at on April 11, 2021.

He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, going to the flea market with his dad, and coin collecting.

Ryan will be remembered for his great big kind and generous heart. He always loved Christmastime with a passion, from candlelight service to twinkling lights and his favorite Christmas songs. On a lighter note, one of his biggest thrills was the chance that he might win big on a scratch-off ticket.

He is survived by his father, Richard Staley; mother, Amy Staley; brother, Neil Staley; grandparents, Alice Staley and Shirley and Bill Radford; as well as uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Ryan struggled for years with mental health disease and substance abuse. But he never failed to believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 9, 2022 at River Christian Church, 5900 US Hwy 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003, with Pastor Anthony Favors officiating.
