Sandy DiMaio-Leach
February 20, 1947 – December 29, 2022
Sandy passed away December 29, 2022 after suffering a stroke following surgery for cervical stenosis. She was only 75 years old. Her family is deeply saddened and shocked by her unexpected sudden death.
Sandy was born in Wayne, Nebraska to Dominic and Ruth DiMaio. She graduated from Lawrence Kansas High School and the University of Kansas, where she earned the degree of Bachelor of Arts.
She was the first woman to be sent on an overseas assignment by Eastman Kodak Company. She lived and worked in England for Eastman Kodak and France for Carrier Transicold Corporation, as well as in the USA.
Sandy was an avid bridge player and passionate about dog rescue working with Jacksonville Sheltie Rescue. She was the Moderator of the US Canine Cushing’s Disease Discussion Group, helping numerous owners through the difficult treatment. She has adopted and fostered numerous Shelties over the years and recently a Great Pyrenees.
Sandy worked for the Clay County Supervisor of Elections since 2002, as Precinct Clerk and early voting Site Manager.
She is survived by her devoted husband Alan, her brothers Frank and Tony, her children, Claire, Karen, Charlie and Steve, grandchildren Adam, Christian, Rhianna, Alex, Ben, Tommy, Isabella and Dylan, her stepmother Sayuri, her brother-in-law Brian and niece and nephew, Elan and Tai.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 24, 2023 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Chaplain Brent Beaird officiating.
