SCPO Richard Varner Calloway USN, Ret will be remembered as the ‘Best Husband, Best Dad and Best Pops ever’.
He passed in peace Monday June 11, 2018 at the age of 74.
Richard will be forever remembered by:
Best Friend and Loving wife of 55 years Linda Hysmith Calloway.
His children, Todd Calloway, Kevin Calloway and Tina Calloway who knew him as their closest and most loyal friend.
Josh Calloway and Sawyer Calloway his grandchildren, partners in crime, and BFFs.
His beloved daughter in-law Michelle Calloway.
And Riley and River who knew he was the true master.
Immediate family Glen & Donna Calloway, Jerry & Gloria Calloway, Sue & Keith Kemp and Karen McCarter.
In-laws Billy & Lynn Hysmith, Buddy & Darlene McMillin, Ricky Hysmith, Beverly Hysmith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who love him dearly, he was known as the “Fun Uncle”.
Richard was a funny, smart, creative, and energetic man who will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, #1 Dad/Pops, compassionate youth mentor, life of the party, lover of music, amazing dancer, Nole fan, Thumbbone, Master of the Road Trip, proud patriot and US Navy Veteran.
Richard (Pops) loved Christ and his church family. He was the “Best Dad Ever” not only to his own children, but ALL children and became a positive role model to so many.
His kind and generous nature will be missed. He was a gift. He would give you the shirt off his back. He was that 2 AM friend that you could always count on.
This family may not have it all together but together we have it all.
