Sam passed peacefully to his heavenly home on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 in the Moosehaven Health Care Center at the age of 82.

He was born to Armando and Vittoria Giannese on September 24, 1937 in Fiume, Italy.

Sam grew up in Italy with his four brothers, Armando, Vincent, Mario and Frank, and one sister Dorina. He immigrated to the United States

and joined the Army in 1961.

Sam was stationed in Germany from 1961-1967. When he returned to the States, he met Anita Monroe. They were married on May 27, 1967 and had two sons Armando ( Rick) and Robert. The couple later divorced in 1973.

Sam was employed with American Plastic Craft until he retired in the late seventies. He enjoyed playing the accordion, and was an excellent carpenter and handyman.

Sam became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on January 30, 1988 when he joined the Bellwood, IL. Lodge 777.

He came to Moosehaven on August 28, 2013 where he resided for over 6 years.

Sam was a devout Christian and enjoyed his work at the Moosehaven Chapel as Usher for the Moosehaven Chapel Service and for a 2nd service with Pastor Matthews. Sam took his work for the Lord very serious. He reported any maintenance or housekeeping issues at the Chapel to make sure it was pristine.

Sam will be laid to rest in the Moosehaven Cemetery, Orange Park FL.

Sam is survived by his two sons, Armando (Rick) and Robert, his 3 brothers Armando Giannese of Chicago IL., Mario Giannese of Arizona, Franco Giannese of Chicago, IL. Sister, Dorina Giannese Spiering of Shaumburg, IL., and also 6 granchildren (Kameron, Kristen, Caytlin, Jessica,Victoria, Megan ) and 3 great grandchildren ( Elizabeth, Karter, and Beckett).
