Shawn Marie (Naylor) Slocum

February 7, 1967 — February 9, 2024

Shawn Marie (Naylor) Slocum was born on 02/07/1967 in Sanford, Florida to Jim and Wilma Naylor. She tragically passed away on February 9th, 2024. Shawn graduated from Orange Park High School in 1985. She then attended the University of North Florida where she earned a B.S. in Psychology. After college she worked using her degree to help troubled families working for Clay Behavioral in Florida. She later worked as a project manager for J.P. Morgan Chase. She served her community helping coach young kids at Bel-Med where she was a board member. Shawn was a member of Crossroads and Advent Lutheran Church where she was a board member and Sunday school teacher. She was an avid cheerleader for her children and family in all their athletic endeavors. Shawn loved crafting and interior decoration. She will be remembered most for the love she had for her family. Shawn was a devoted wife to her first love, John Slocum and loving mother to Shannon, Michael, and Trevor. She was preceded in death by her son Trevor James Slocum. Shawn is survived by her husband, John Slocum, children Shannon (Merrill) Bryan, Michael Slocum (Hadiya Woodley), granddaughter, Kiana Bryant, parents, James and Wilma Naylor, brother, James Naylor (Tina Kicklighter), sisters-in-law Karen (Dale) Dealy, Cathy Slocum, brother-in-law, Mark (Jolene) Slocum, as well as many adored nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 22 at 12:00pm at Advent Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the STXBP1 Foundation via https://give.stxbp1disorders.org/Slocum-Memorial-Fund. The STXBP1 Foundation is a community of families battling the same disorder Trevor Slocum had and was instrumental in support for Shawn’s family during his life.
