Susan "Elaine" Layfield Cooper

Susan “Elaine” Layfield Cooper, 65 years young, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019.  The daughter of Jack and Elnora Layfield she was born on March 13, 1953 in Birmingham, Alabama.  Elaine graduated in 1971 from E.B.Erwin High School in Birmingham, Alabama and worked at Weedman’s Grocery for 36 years. Elaine loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered for being very independent, honest and for her good homemade cooking and holiday family gatherings.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jack William Layfield and sister, Amy Barber.

Elaine is survived by her mother, Elnora Layfield; daughter, Becky Jo Carney (Donald); son, John Darryl Cooper; grandchildren, Mason Carney, Brandon Carney, Madison Carney, Dustin Burket and Andrew Burket; brothers, William Bill Layfield, Mike (Linda) Layfield, David (Sandy) Layfield, Jack (Tammie) Layfield and James (Kay) Layfield; sisters, Barbara Holland and Robin (Donald) Cranford along with many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Congregational Holiness Church.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Congregational Holiness Church with Reverend Ronnie Surrency officiating and burial will follow at Penney Farms Cemetery.
