Suzanne Marlyne Veniskey

Suzanne Marlyne Veniskey, 63, of Fleming Island, FL passed away June 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 28, 1956 in Mountain Top, PA to the late Merle Shafer and surviving Helen (Wickiser) Shafer. She moved to the local area in 1999 with her late husband, Ski, whom was a Navy Veteran of 32 years.  Suzanne was a homemaker and committed her life to caring for her family, specifically her precious granddaughters, Christina and Rachel. Suzanne served as a role model to her daughter, Lorrie, whom she lovingly supported her career as a registered nurse. She loved her grandchildren dearly and loved spending time at Disney World when she wasn’t cooking, cleaning, shopping, playing games or taking care of Bella, her cherished puppy.  Suzanne was a genuinely loving person and befriended everyone she talked with. She was known as Gram to many. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends, especially by her daughter Lorrie who was her longtime best friend.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband, Ski; her father, Merle Shafer; her daughter, Esther Veniskey and her brothers, Jack and Butch Shafer. Survivors include her mother, Helen Shafer, her daughter, Lorrie Veniskey; brother, Harold Shafer (Sherry); sister, Brenda Austin (Douglas) and granddaughters, Christina and Rachel Veniskey.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 19, 2019 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating; all friends and family are welcomed. Inurnment will take place at 1:00 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
