Thelma Elizabeth Leeper Morrow

Thelma Leeper Morrow (89), of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 22, 2023.

Thelma was born in Alma, GA on September 17, 1933, to Effie and Frank Turner.

Thelma was employed in the 60’s at Martin Marietta in Orlando, FL during the NASA program. During this time, she received recognition for the development of circuit boards. She was also employed at Honeywell in Tampa, FL where she worked on making the Patriot Missile. While employed with both Martin Marietta and Honeywell she was a member of their labor union. She was also a self-employed businesswoman and later retired from Clay County Public Schools.

Thelma was also a member of the VFW, The Moose Lodge, and The American Legion where she made many friends over the years. She loved crafting of all kinds, jewelry and anyone that knew her knew her passion for collecting pigs and Elvis’s memorabilia. As well as her love for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Thelma lived life to the fullest with a zest for life unlike any other. Her sense of humor and her style would always light up any room. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she cherished every second she spent with them. Just keeping up with her ever-growing family was a full-time adventure which she enjoyed greatly. She was loved by everyone who met her, and she will forever be loved and forever remembered.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents Effie and Frank Turner, all her brothers and sisters as well as her only son Larry Taylor.   

Thelma is survived by her husband Leonard Morrow, 2 daughters Linda Magee (Mike), Glenda Taylor, Daughter in law Dale Taylor, 3 Grandchildren Kimberly Van Der Oort (Jacob), Larry M. Taylor and Maryann Taylor, 5 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and 4 stepchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, July 28, 2023, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 29, 2023, in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Pastor Anthony Guy officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL at 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation to St. Jude Children’s hospital in her name.
