Timothy Morton Horne
On Thursday, May 30th, 2024, the world lost a truly unique soul. Tim was Born on November 1st, 1945. He lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for all things outdoors.
He was a true gardening guru and Master Gardener at White Oak Plantation in Yulee, Florida for over 30 years. Tim could tell you more about flowers, vegetables, and quirky plant facts than you ever thought possible. His green thumb was legendary, and his garden was a testament to his passion and knowledge. He spent countless hours nurturing his plants, always with a smile on his face and a story to tell.
Fishing was another of his great loves and many a fish tales were told. Tim adored boats and finding solace on the water, whether casting a line or simply enjoying the peaceful sway of the waves. His love for the great outdoors was infectious, and he shared this passion with everyone around him.
Bob Dylan’s melodies were the soundtrack to his life, and he would often be found humming a tune while indulging in his favorite culinary delights. Hamburgers all the way were his go-to, though, he always passed on the fries. Snacks were his true weakness, especially M&Ms—never just one pack but always two. Chocolate pudding cups and cheese balls were also staples in his snack repertoire.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edna Ruth Clarke and Morton Ely Horne. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Shannon Dawn Horne; his son-in-law, Lawrence Paul Larue Jr.; granddaughters, Macey Elizabeth Gaddis and Taler Faith Gaddis; his sister, Carol Yvonne Aldridge of St. Mary’s, Georgia; along with his niece, Nina Aldridge Rooney (Bryan Roney) of Waverly, Georgia and nephews, Joel Aldridge and Donnie Aldridge (Kim Aldridge).
Though Tim has cast his final line and planted his last seed, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. May his memory bloom eternally and may we all find joy in the little things, just as he did.
In lieu of flowers please plant something green in his honor or simply enjoy a pack (or two) of M&Ms while listening to a Bob Dylan song.
