Tommy Lee Fortenberry, of Middleburg, was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 30th, 1970 and passed peacefully at Community Hospice on September 13, 2020 with his wife and daughters by his side. Mr. Fortenberry was a life-long resident of the North Florida area having attended Middleburg High School. He worked for many years in the construction trades, primarily in carpentry. Tommy LOVED his Harley and was blessed to spend many happy hours on the open road. His love for motorcycles didn’t stop with riding. Reviving an old bike or customizing a new one put a smile on his face. Tommy’s need for speed was not limited to his Harley, he loved ATV’s, dirt bikes, and anything that had a throttle or a gas pedal. His girls grew up doing this right beside him, riding anything that rolled, turning wrenches, and searching for the next project. It was their thing and he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
There was a time when Tommy (Raven) could be heard on the CB radio carrying on with whomever was on the open air. His love for motorcycles, CB radio and old cars kept his hands busy for many hours of his life.
He loved his grandbabies dearly and made sure they had a supply of snacks and goodies. No matter what the kids wanted, if he had it, his answer would be “give it to them.” It made him happy to see them smile.
Mr. Fortenberry was predeceased by his parents, Jerry Tom Fortenberry and Betty Sue Fortenberry. He leaves to mourn his passing his life-long companion, Tonya Johns; his daughters, Heather and Megan, and their spouses Nathaniel Hyatt and Chandler Leggett; granddaughters, Raylee and Abby, and grandson, Cain. Many other family members and friends also grieve his passing.
