Verlie Lee Dorsett, 88, of Orange Park, FL passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. Mrs. Dorsett was born to parents, Buelah (Bryant) and Noah H. McCullough on June 17, 1929, in Bell, FL. She and her beloved husband of sixty one years, Roy "Jack" Dorsett, moved to Orange Park, FL, eighteen years ago. Of the Baptist faith, they attended the First Baptist Church in Orange Park. Verlie loved her church family, and was involved in her prayer group, prior to failing health. Before moving to Orange Park, they were active members of the Ancient City Baptist Church of St. Augustine for twenty years. Verlie and Roy also helped found the St. Augustine Volunteer Fire Dept., and she actively supported her husband in his career as a Marine, and later in his volunteer activities, such as being a Boy Scout Master for 25 years. They greatly enjoyed traveling with their motor home, helped lead rallies with camping groups, and were camp hosts for many years. Verlie's varied hobbies also included gardening, canning, crocheting, embroidery, and other crafts. Verlie is survived by son Roy J. Dorsett III of Orange Park, Randall Scott Dorsett (Susan) of Orange Park; brother Michael McCullough; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a beloved son, William Donald Dorsett, and daughter, Rachel Dorsett Sanders. The family will receive friends on Sat., Nov. 25, 2017 from 10:00 until 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Orange Park, 1140 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073. Funeral services will commence at 11:00 am with Pastor David Tarkington officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery, Branford, FL at 3:00 pm.
