Virginia Hobbs

Virginia Hobbs, age 82 went to be with the Lord on Monday December 31, 2018. She was born on March 31, 1936 to the late Arthur Young Hearn & Birdie Grey Davis in Citronelle, Alabama. She was the seventh of eight children. After graduation from Citronelle High School she met & married Virgil Allen Hobbs; they moved to Florida where they put down roots.

She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years, and began working at the Naval Air Station Hospital in Jacksonville, FL in 1981. She was a long time and active member of Hickory Grove Baptist and Church in Green Cove Springs, FL. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and doing puzzles. But most of all spending time with family. She had a very close relationship with all of her brothers and sisters.

She is most remembered by her love of family, her resilience, her strength, her courage; her gentle kindness and true compassion for helping others.

She is preceded in death by her former husband Virgil Hobbs, her daughter Susan Hobbs; her brothers Arthur “Bugs” Hearn, George Hearn, along with her sister Elsie Prine. Virginia is survived by her brother, James “Dick” Hearn; her sisters Evelyn Fortenberry, Opal Dougherty and Lynn Machovoe. Her daughters, Terrie Price and Linda Hobbs. Along with her son, David (Tonya) Hobbs.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Danielle Joseph, Alan Cobb, Virginia Eckenrode, Jessica Cobb, Matthew Raley, Isaac Hobbs, Opal Hobbs and Benjamin Hobbs; and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 10:00am on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Reverend Russell Franklin officiating.  She will be laid to rest at Hickory Grove Cemetery and a reception will follow at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
