Virginia "Ginny" Mary VanAllan

October 18, 1939 — April 9, 2023

Virginia “Ginny” Mary VanAllan, 83, of Orange Park, Florida, passed on Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023. Born to Harry Latal (Father) and Mildred Latal (Mother) on October 18, 1939 in Rochester, New York.

Upon her retirement on June 1st, 1995, Ginny was recognized for twenty years of honorable service working for the Social Security Administration. However, her proudest accomplishment was single-handedly successfully raising her four happy children.

Ginny’s favorite hobbies were traveling to visit all of her grandchildren and great-children, reading suspense novels, she loved watching the NASCAR races (even “the boring ones with no crashes”) and any type of law enforcement show (Cops was her all-time favorite), completing one word-search book after another, and playing solitaire the “old fashion” way with a deck of cards and then becoming “high tech” with her iPad - large font of course! Ginny also enjoyed keeping up with family updates on Facebook (she even read all the ridiculous ads that popped-up), playing bingo where she always seemed to come out “a winner”, and we recently discovered that she completed many adult coloring books leaving us all with beautiful art to enjoy. Also, it must be noted that she was an “expert driver” from the passenger seat only.

Her family was not spared of her mischievous sense of humor and it didn’t go unnoticed by her many friends at the Senior Center, Lifecare Center, and Dialysis Center of Orange Park, Florida. Her quiet demeanor, patience, being an excellent listener, and only offering her opinion when asked were some of her most admirable characteristics.

Her legacy will live on through her beloved children, grandchildren, and great grand-children, who meant the absolute world to her.

Ginny was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Peter VanAllan, parents Mildred and Harry Latal, sister Marilyn Klass, and her great granddaughter Karlee Ann Noble.  She is survived by her four children Jeffrey Alan Wagner (Kim) & Douglas Randy Wagner (Tracy) of Rochester, NY, Debi Ann Dodds (Jeff) of Cole Camp, MO, and Donna Jean Scott (Matthew) of Orange Park, FL; her eleven grandchildren: Faith Noel Jones (Christopher), Heidi Lynn Daily (Jerry), Jeffrey Alan Wagner Jr. (Crystal), Candace Hope White (Nathan), Jessica Lynn Green (Richard), Amanda Kay Noble (Jeremy), Christina Jane Nicols, Joanna Amber Eckhoff (Caleb), Brittany Melissa Holland, Joshua Edward Wagner (Amanda), and Haili Lynn Wagner (Kevin); and her twenty four great-grandchildren: Chloe Danielle Daily, Caylee Marie Jones,  Rhaelynn Kay Green, Jacob Alexander Daily, Mikalya Rose Holland, Ayden Michael Wagner, Jaxen Ryder Daily, Carter James Noble, Brixton Keith Jones, Kataleyna Kay Green, Keller Carlton White, Tyler Grayson Daily, Gage Dean Eckhoff, Nicholas Lee Holland, Cohen Jeffrey Noble, Cayden Jeremy Noble, Cameron James Wagner, Finley Quinn White, Trinity Marie Wagner, Thomas Abel Wagner-Mack, Wyatt Anthony Wagner, Savannah Lynn Wagner-Mack, Brenton Wilbur Eckhoff, and Corbyn Jene Noble.

Ginny will be missed by Ellie Mae, her beloved miniature Beagle, who was her constant companion for the past twelve years. She proudly enjoyed showing her off to her family, friends, and neighbors at Lifecare.

A private day of remembrance will be held for close family and friends at a later planned date around her birthday in Rochester, New York.
