Virginia Shawlene Whalin

Virginia Shawlene Whalin, a dear mother to her children, sadly lost her battle with Alzheimer’s on February 27th, 2024.  She was born in Jacksonville, Fl. on September 22nd, 1942. 

Virginia served our country through Civil Service for 30 yrs with the Department of Defense. She was well known for her love of crafts, all of her animals, Safari animals, and her children.

She was preceded in death by her mother Virginia “Googie” Clarice Franklin Furr and her dear husband of 24 years Burton Lynn Whalin. 

She is survived by her son Scott Foley, daughter Mandy Foley, daughters-in-law Susan Biddle & Charlene Ebanks, brother Athens Furr, sister-in-law Connie Furr, and her nephew Eric Whatley. Virginia was a wonderful mother, mother in-law, family member and friend to whomever she met.

Memorial services are to be determined. 

In lieu of flowers, the family knows that Virginia would have appreciated a small donation to your local animal shelter.
