Wade Benjamin Rivers Jr., affectionately known as Buck, passed away May 19, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born September 29, 1948, to Dora and Wade Benjamin Rivers Sr. Buck was a lifelong resident of Green Cove Springs, Florida, a community he loved dearly.
Buck was a graduate of Clay High and joined the Marine Corps upon completing school. An avid outdoorsman, Buck found solace in the serenity of nature. His hobbies included fishing, camping, boating, and riding his Harley. His passion for the open road sparked his career in the transportation industry, driving all over the US and was owner and operator of Rivers Trucking with his wife Ruth.
Buck was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend. He is survived by his children, Maribeth (Troy) Byrd, Mike (Dawn) White, Tandy (Tina) Stem, Vickie (Tracy) Barker, Jeff (Dawn) Stem; grandchildren, Mason, Makena Byrd, Grady, Macey, Evan and Brandon White, Brian (Shannon) Beasley, Jeff (Christi) Woods, Jeremy (Tracy) Adkins, Justin Stem, Casey (Charlie) Blair, Chris and Cody Brown, Jessica (Dwayne) Plymal, Lindsey Barker; sister, Karen Rivers, brother William “Billy” Wade Rivers. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Rivers, parents Dora Mae and Wade Benjamin Rivers Sr.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2024 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 24, 2024 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.Thursday, May 23, 2024
