Wallace "Melvin" Chesser

Wallace “Melvin” Chesser, 90, of Palatka, FL passed away on July 29, 2017.  He was born on March 4, 1927 in Green Cove Springs, FL to the late Fred and Edna (Owens) Chesser.  Mr. Chesser was a lifelong resident of the area, an old country boy who enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during WWII and went on to retire from the Clay County Road Department.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Colea Padgett Chesser.   Mr. Chesser is survived by his sons, Melvin “Cole” Chesser (Rada), Wallace Marion Chesser (Frances) and Morris Lane Chesser (Jeri); sisters, Geraldine Suttles (John) and Betty Ottinger; 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.   The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Black Pond Cemetery with Reverend Charlie Hunt officiating.
