Walter H. Cary, Jr.

Walter H. Cary, Jr., 78, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away on May 3, 2022. Born to Walter H. and Josie O. Cary on June 8, 1943, in Jacksonville, FL.  Walter received his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri in 1965, his master's degree from Wichita State University in 1973, was a nationally certified Behavior Analyst and acquired several other certifications. He retired from the state of Florida after 33 years in the mental health field.  Walter was married to Eula L. Cowee on June 6, 1963 (58 years). He was a proud lifelong member of the Church of Christ, member of Mensa, published author and poet, became an Eagle Scout at the age of 15 and was a Scout Master for 5 years. Walter was an avid powerlifter from the age of 13.  He was a devout Christian and known for his love of music. He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Josie, and two sons-in-law, Barry Damren and Russell McDaniel, Jr. 

He is survived by his wife, Eula Louise (Cowee) Cary, his children Walter Cary III, Deborah Damren and Charlotte McDaniel and four grandchildren, Zachariah Damren (Sophia Damren), Clayton Damren, Hannah McNeese and Abigail McNeese.  He was an amazing man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, May 6, 2022 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Green Cove Springs Church of Christ with Minister Claude McEldowney officiating. 

Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Orange Park, FL.
